#S4LSocial: And Here’s the Pitch…

Social Selling With Twitter

You’re invited to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at a Major League Baseball game. How do you prepare for the moment when a crowded stadium is watching you?

Some people, even those with prior baseball experience, will crumble under the pressure.

What should be a routine act – throwing a baseball 60 feet – morphs into an embarrassing situation where the ball sails over the catcher, or worse yet, falls woefully short and rolls meekly towards home plate.

Others rise to the challenge and deliver the pitch right over the plate, like they’ve been playing the game their whole lives – even if they haven’t.

The difference? Preparation and practice.

How to Keyword Optimize Your LinkedIn Summary Section

LinkedIn Connections

For several years now we have been teaching our students at Sales for Life to use their LinkedIn profile as a digital business card rather than a resume repository. As part of this training we teach our students the importance of keyword mentions on their profile for being found in search results by their prospects.

Essentially, if your summary section is filled with information about your professional experience and achievements in sales & marketing you are going to be found for the wrong keywords. If, however, your summary section is riddled with content rich keywords specific to your product/service that your buyers will use to find information during their buying journey then they are much more likely to find you and reach out.

Make Some Room: Social Selling is Here to Stay

Social Selling

This post is not about the fact that people are slow to adopt social media in the sales process. It’s more about the correct mindset that’s needed when the decision to go social happens.

Let’s not kid around and let’s face the facts. As much as a new strategy has to fit around your company culture, you’ll also need to change some of the things you do to realize that you have to accept the new cultural realities of going social.

Management and leadership need to internalize this for the proper internalization of social selling into any sales culture.

LinkedIn Is YOUR Digital Business Card (Video)

LinkedIn

How are you using LinkedIn today?

Are you only connecting with people you know really well? Sure, that’s a good strategy. But do you hand out business cards to people you ONLY know really well, also? Of course not!

So why is it that some people are using LinkedIn like a closed-off rolodex? This is completely counter-intuitive to the real spirit of what the world’s largest professional network is about. The exchange of ideas and collaboration are the real tenets of any social media platform.

And LinkedIn is no different. Think about the awesome ability to have your words and ideas reach places they’ve never gone before. Imagine my friends… just think and imagine.
