Getting In Shape: Why Social Selling Works Like Fitness [Video]

You can go the gym or you can get results. Which do you prefer?

The challenge is that most of us are so busy that it’s incredibly hard to focus. I know, if we put our minds to it you CAN do it. But, there’s one small problem: our egos. We think we can do it by ourselves. And you can do it by yourself but how much time are you going to need? Are you willing to go through the learning curve on your own? Wouldn’t you rather use a mentor to guide you?

With the New Year upon us, think about this seriously. You need SUPPORT. Without support, your results may be lacking. Or worst, you may even give up.

Here’s the sad part, most of us will confuse limited results with massive achievements. You may have some bona fide results and think you’ve done enough. But you’ll never truly reach anywhere close to peak performance.

Social Selling Fitness

Social selling performance isn’t any different. I had someone tell me the other day, “Amar, everything you teach is available online”. And I told him he’s absolutely right. It’s all available online! But, it’s taken us 3 years and over 10,000 hours to compile this data into a process that just works.

Let’s reposition the way we look at this. I had a meeting recently with a Sales Operations Executive at a well-known software company. She hit the nail on the head when she said “just because you use LinkedIn doesn’t make you a social seller”. Just because you have access to a gym, this doesn’t make you an athlete.

Which One Are You?

Are you a social seller or just a sales person that uses social media? Make no mistake about it, the two are radically different. Each produces very different results. A sales person using social media will achieve some results (that goes without saying) while a social seller will push forward to peak performance.

If you have time to recreate the wheel, I wish you well on your journey. The productivity gurus like Tony Robbins teach us, though, that it’s better to mirror the results of successful people. What are successful social sellers doing?

The Bottom Line

Many sales gurus are touting 2015 as the year of social selling. None of us can predict the future. But, what you and I can do is invest in ourselves. By learning social selling, by using a mentor to help you, you can help increase your sales prowess.

Feel free to reach out to me here if you need any help.

Now, if you excuse me, it’s time to hit the gym (and I really need it).
